Who We Are

Volunteers of America, Utah’s Geraldine E. King Women’s Resource Center is a 24/7, year-round women’s shelter in Salt Lake City serving women aged 18 and older who are experiencing homelessness. The program typically operates with 200 beds and, through temporary capacity expansion supported by Code Blue funds, can increase to serve up to 250 women during periods of extreme weather.

What We Do

Women staying at the Geraldine E. King Women’s Resource Center receive safe shelter, three meals a day, clothing, hygiene items, access to showers, and on-site laundry facilities. The shelter also provides a welcoming environment for companion animals, helping ensure women do not have to choose between safety and keeping their pets. In addition to meeting immediate basic needs, women have access to case management and housing-focused services, connections to medical and mental health care, employment support, benefits navigation, and community referrals. Staff work alongside each woman to stabilize immediate needs while building a path toward long-term housing and self-sufficiency.
